Your Footwork Under the Bar Is a Mess

The fault

Feet that land inconsistently, late, or in the wrong place.

Why it happens

Footwork is the last thing that happens and the first thing people blame. Usually it is the simplest thing in the lift to correct once you actually drill it instead of hoping it sorts itself out.

The fix

A simple, effective drill for moving the feet from the pulling stance to the receiving stance. Short video, and the one to start with if your feet are the problem.

About this fix
Originally published as "Footwork" on 4 April 2016, part of The Lifting Fix, a free weekly weightlifting technique series Danny Lehr ran from June 2015 to December 2016. Every episode is free here and always will be. For the full structured course, see the professionally filmed program.
